A few months ago that concept was shown alongside the MAKO and other projects in an EADS magazine ad. I wonder if they were/are perhaps toying with launching it as a Hawk-replacement/M.346-competitor.

(P106A was conventional tailed version, no illustration)
Now there is.
This is the P106A. Despite being later than the P.163, this configuration lacks LERX. Why? Was there a change in thinking at BAe Brough? Just about every conventional fighter concept since the YF-16/YF-17 has featured a LERX. Why not the P106A?
Despite being a post-1980 design, this concept reminds me more of a late 60s/early 70s fighter like the Mirage F1.
Why would the P163 (1979) have more advanced aerodynamics than the P106A from 1980?

Hi Deino these are the CASA studies
CASA EA/AX
1984
C-101 development with a more powerful engine
CASA AX
1986
1988: end of definition phase
1990: end of development phase
1992: First flight
1996: First series aircraft operational
72 aircraft (F-5 replacement) to complement Eurofighters in XXI century planned Spanish Ejército del Aire
Transonic attack aircraft, 1 EJ200 without afterburner
Some stealthy features to be incorporated.
CASA tried to find cooperation at MBB and Dassault. It was considered to be a better choice to AMX in international market.
AX 1 shows very first concept (twin engined)
AX 2 shows more advanced concept
Next and last project in the series was ATX, shown in Tinwing's scan

It sounds like a project that had a very ambitious timescale, especially when you consider that the Mako combat trainer concept has been floating in limbo for around a decade without any real progress.

P.153 Concept
The P.153 (1970) was the conceptual predecessor of the P.159 (1975) and the final P.163 of 1979.

JAZZ,
The Dornier design seems to have an interesting wing configuration. Would you happen to have more info on this.
