Texan completes airworthy trainer collection

US broker Courtesy Aircraft has announced the purchase of North American AT-6 Texan N14166 by the WASP Museum in Sweetwater, Texas.

The museum is dedicated to celebrating the role of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) who trained on five aircraft types, the AT-6, plus the PT-17, PT-19, BT-13 and the UC-78 during their time at Sweetwater.

The acquisition of N14166 means the attraction now has an airworthy example of each of the historic trainers in its collection. Courtesy’s President Mark Clark said: “It was an honour to help the WASP museum find the perfect AT-6 they needed. This flying example is an excellent way for the museum to pay tribute to those who served before us, and remember the contributions the WASP pilots made.”
