I'm sure there will be plenty of posts showing the runway action, so here are some odds and ends from today's Cold War Jets Open Day at Bruntingthorpe:

I really like your Victor shot.

Did you get any of the Nimrod doing her run?

A bit of news!

Great pictures but the sun shone on the Victor twice!! It is of course in a different colour scheme to the Falkland, Operation Granby and later aircraft, but she still looks good in the sunshine. Two points of interest, Bob Tuxford was in the left hand seat with Mike Beer in the AEO position. Terry Stephenson the crew chief was on board, and I was in the RHS doing my QFI thing! As it was Black Buck One anniversary time, we marked the occasion as Bob T and Mike flew the last stage of the Vulcan AAR support for that operation. Regrettably, we had a problem getting the brake parachute repacked and so one was not fitted. This limited our maximum speed for the run. Better luck in August! Bob P

VX927: I didn't wait for the Nimrod, here she is earlier:

Hampden98: The camo Beech 18 was owned by Graham Warner and later Anthony Hutton and flew alongside the Harvard Display Team (also as N5063N). Her arrival was a sight to see:

The Beech is G-BKGM and is owned by Andy Foan

Andy is a really decent bloke and agreed to bring the Beech for the day.

His Beech, our Beech (G-BKRN) and G-BKRL all flew for Capital Air Surveys in the 70's/80's

CAS went bust in about 83 and all 3 were impounded at Prestwick.

L & M were bought by Graham Warner RN was ferried to perth and then went to the Scottish Aircraft Collection TRust. They got rid and it ended up at Cranfield

we (Beech Restorations) bought it in 1996 and we have been restoring it since then.

nearly there now.

hope to get all 3 together again soon.

Here's a reminder of the early days of G-BKGM, taken at Duxford 5-7-84:

I hope you don't mind me using your thread Dave, but here's a few pics for Philip of the Beech 18s on the evening they arrived at Prestwick in August 1981. I think he may have seen a couple of these before.

Is that the same Andy Foan that flew ATR's for us at CityFlyer back in the late 90's? I take it he got bitten by the twin prop bug then!
