If FC-1 is bought by the PLAAF, it may take over the J-9 designation that used to belong to a now aborted fighter project that had canards and delta.

Regarding a post from CMF (http://www.centurychina.com/cgi-bin/anyboard.cgi/plaboard/?cmd=get&cG=3…) about the Zhuhai airshow display ....

Most Advanced Aircraft to Debut at China Air Show
China's Fourth International Air Show scheduled November 4 to 7 in Zhuhai, the nearest mainland city to Macao, will display a batch of the most advanced fighters of the nation, to make up for the stunt flying once planned but cancelled later, as learned from the organizing committee.
Life-sized models of "Chao Qi"-China's new generation fighter co-developed with Pakistan, which will be put into flying next year, and "Kun Lun"--turbojet engine independently worked out by China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I) will make debut at the air show. Besides, the fourth-generation fighter "Qian Shi", the most sophisticated China-made jet, will also be unveiled in Zhuhai.
China Aerospace Science & Technology Corp. will display the full-scale "Shenzhou" experimental spaceship model, a new generation of carrier rockets, geostationary orbit communications satellites, up-to-date small satellites and satellite components, four-fifths of which are new.
FC-1 put into formal production in Chengdu
A new type fighter "Chao Qi" FC-1 was put into formal production in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on September 16. Designed by AVIC I after studying international market demand, FC-1 could meet the need of various military environments. As an all-weather, multi-use light fighter, it is equipped with advanced electronic system and could launch medium-range missile and carry out both air-to-air, air-to-ground attacks."
Since when does the FC-1 posseses the name "Chao Qi" ??? And the other "... fourth-generation fighter "Qian Shi", the most sophisticated China-made jet ... " is this the J-10 ???
Can someone tranmslate these names and does anyone know if the FC-1 will have a PLAAF J-X-designation ??
