Hunter. As used and proved in Borneo, Aden and of course by the Rhodesians. Also had the advantage that it could switch back to other roles instantly, such as fighter, recce, strike....

Just out of interest, what do you think it is if it isn't an aircraft? :confused:

Has to be the A-1 'Sandy' surely.

As designed type without rotors, the Mohawk, Bronco, and A-10 are all up there.

The Ventura is an interesting choice, can you expand on why you choose it?

Bell Cobra.

Both the single-engined AH-1G/S* and twin-engined AH-1J/T/W versions.

* split into -E, -F, -P, & -S variants after 1988

The Best Coin AC

My vote without a doubt goes to the skyraider. but as has been mentioned the A10 and the OV 10 rank a close second and third.

I to am curious about the ventura, as I did a bit of digging and it appears to be a patrol bomber,anti shipping type rather than a traditional COIN type.

I think he meant to say it isn't an aeroplane.

If you factor in that little detail called combat-reccord, I'll say its hard to ignore aircraft like P-47 Thunderbolt and Il-2 Sthurmovik. Those two set Europe ablaze, and could often hold their own against enemy flak and fighters.
Oh, and the British Beaufighter schouldnt be forgotten either.. IIRC the Japs called it "Whispering Death".

Yeah, the A-37 is a good choice among the more modern ones. And you gotanother pretty good contender standing right next to him too.. Sent more than one Mujahideen/Jihadi to the afterworld.
