-Bloody Hell, I hope the crew make a full recovery, it looks horrific, it must have been terrifying to watch from the tower.

-I heard about the incident at the time, but didn't realise it was that serious and narrowly missing the tower like that. Hope the aircrew are recovering ok.
It should be pointed out that that picture is the rear of the tower aswel. I know how harrowing it is to see something like that from the tower, and I hope any witnesses are fine.

That photo has been blown up on my forum here,

and I found it interesting how well the unit markings and roundel survived the blaze as opposed to the black paint.
Imagine the look on the insurance man's face when you told him you were claiming because your car was hit by a flaming Red Arrow.

-Well I am certainly no air accident investigator but you can clearly see from the pictures that the nosewheel was not deployed, good thing is the crew are safe and well.
There are some more pictures here.......

Dave,
Was there a fire?
I think that paint work is just bruised and battered from going through some substantial brickwork.

-I wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall in the Norwich Union office when the car insurance claims arrive...

A freind who was involved in a Glider crash many years ago told me that the RAF Fire Teams are absolutely amazing, they will laugh and joke with guys as they cut them out of wreckage, without batting an eye lid. This is the kind of thing they train for I guess.
