Hi,

Can anyone identify the part shown in the photographs which was found at a crash site. I think it is probably from a Rolls Royce Merlin engine but would appreciate confirmation of that and also any idea of which part of the engine it could be.

Many thanks

It looks like a propeller feathering pump which would have been powered by an electric motor. I think that is a Rotol inspection stamp.
There were some Merlin multi-engined aircraft with Rotol props. Halifax would probably be the most numerous?

Hi Cees, yes it is. I visited the crash site yesterday with one of the survivors and this part had been found recently by a local farmer.
