I believe the American World Cup team arrived on a Privatair A319LR

The British Airways A320 is the exact same one that myself and A330Crazy returned home from Manchester on last August. Appropriately named "Three Lions".

Just wondering, are planes like the 707 banned in Germany? Would have thought teams like Angola and Togo would be using slightly less modern aircraft.

Im sure the England team used to use BA 777's on short hops up until recently. Im sure they went on a 777 to Portugal.

It would definately be reapplied before a high publicity flight, so they probably took that opportunity to use a different name.

As for 777's, they probably use whatever aircraft they need for the number of people they need to transport rather than choosing a type they like.

As I understand it the England aircraft will be based with them throughout the tournamet. Is this correct?

Just because you percieve these countries as unable to afford modern aircraft it would make absolutely no sense for a country to use nothing but its flagship in almost every case.

If the Angola team had a 747 at their disposal they are hardly going to say "Hmm, we are a 3rd world country, can't be having anything as good as a 747 to transport us to the worlds premier sporting event, you got anything older thats a bit more fitting of our stereotype?"

Don't know if anyone is interested but just sharing a few planes that the world cup teams flew out to Germany on:

England: British Airways A320 G-EUUI arrived into Baden Baden (EDSB) from Luton as BA9200
Angola: TAAG Angola 747-300 D2-TEB arrived at Hanover.
Ukraine: Ukraine Intl 737-400 UR-GAP arrived into Berlin (TXL)
Japan: JAL 747-400 JA8909 arrived into Frankfurt (FRA)
Poland: LOT ERJ-170 ??-??? arrived into Hanover
South Korea: Asiana 747-400 HL7423 arrived into Frankfurt (FRA)
Trinidad and Tobago: BWIA A340-300 9Y-JIL arrived into Frankfurt Hahn (EDFH) as BW1930 and went back to Port of Spain as BW1931 via Heathrow.

If anyone else has any other info on team planes, that would be great.

i know some one who has flown with TAAG angola and there aircraft are apparently in fantastic condition!!

Perhaps Austrailia will use the Qantas 767-300 painted up in the 'Socceroos' logo ?
