-Interesting chart, but that comes from Jane's Land Based Air Defense and should not have a DTIC marking on it.
Also, I can see a few errors in there that Jane's never fixed in theirs either.

-Jep, the chart based on Jane's Land Based Air Defense but its more accurate and contains more informations. :D

-Wish they'd make all their papers available in English. The ones that are are very interesting.

I'll correct it for you later tonight once I get home. The problem is it is based on a Jane's chart which had a number of errors to begin with as well.

-Okay, here's the correct lineage of the S-300 family. We'll begin with the S-300V tactical SAM system.
S-300V1/SA-12A GLADIATOR
9M83 (75 km)
S-300V2/SA-12B GIANT
9M82 (100 km)
S-300VM1/Antey-2500/SA-X-23A
9M83M (200 km)
S-300VM2/Antey-2500/SA-X-23B
9M82M (200 km)
S-300VMD/Antey-2500D
9M83M-1/9M82M-1
That's the easy one :D Now onto the S-300P strategic SAM family!
S-300PT/PT-1/PT-1A/SA-10A GRUMBLE
5V55K GRUMBLE mod 0 (47 km)
This was the relatively benign (by comparison) S-300P variant with the command guided missile, and the most asinine mobile TEL trailer design, ever. PT-1 and PT-1A were modifications to the system itself, but I do not believe new missiles were introduced at that stage yet.
S-300PS/SA-10B GRUMBLE
5V55R GRUMBLE mod 1 (75 km)
Now we've got 8x8 system components and an advanced guidance system similar to Patriot's TVM.
S-300PM/SA-10B GRUMBLE
5V55RUD GRUMBLE mod 2 (90 km)
S-300PMU was the export variant.
S-300PM-1/SA-20A GARGOYLE
48N6 GARGOYLE mod 0 (150 km)
S-300PMU-1/48N6E were export versions.
Add TOMB STONE radar in place of FLAP LID.
S-300PM-2 Favorit/SA-20B GARGOYLE
48N6D GARGOYLE mod 1 (200 km)
9M96 missile (40 km)
9M96D missile (120 km)
S-300PMU-2/48N6E2/9M96E/9M96E2 were export versions.
The D actually denoted "extended range", I forget the exact Russian term used.
S-300PM-3 is sometimes used to describe the S-400
S-400 Trieumf/SA-X-21
40N6 missile (400 km)
48N6DM missile (300 km)
9M96 missile (40 km)
9M96D missile (120 km)
Add GRAVE STONE radar in place of TOMB STONE.
S-300F Fort/SA-N-6 GRUMBLE
5V55RM/3M41 missile (90 km)
Rif was the export variant.
S-300FM Fort-M/SA-N-20A GARGOYLE
48N6K/3M41M missile (150 km)
Rif-M was the export variant.
Add TOMB STONE mod radar in place of TOP DOME.
48N6K is basically identical to the 48N6 as both are sealed, containerized rounds.
S-300FM Fort-M2/SA-N-20B GARGOYLE
48N6-2 missle (200 km)
See S-300FM comments.
You can find a lot of this data that I've compiled here:
http://www.designation-systems.net/non-us/russianmissiles.zip
I've been extensively researching the S-300 family for a few years now and this is as close to being accurate as you're going to get for now. There's always new data that I'm sifting through, but these figures are good for the time being.
