-Sounds like that JDW article written by AYESHA SIDDIQA a few weeks back was quite accurate, despite certain individuals who liked to bash her article.

Well, it is an export fighter, hence the interviewee is just hyping the product for potential customers.

-Other than the crystal clear confirmation of the stable airframe and FbW,theres absoutely nothing new!

-There might be more info at Zhuhai 2004, since that is an export-oriented airshow.

About the interview. Still not very clear what exact to expect but most of the things are well known on this forum

-I remember being jumped on by certainmembers when I had said that the FC-1 is a stable airframe and all the loops etc of its first flight were proof of that. Interesting q and a though

Yes, JF-17 is a stable design (it's well known fact) but during the first test flight the aircraft was equipped with a mix system i.e. FBW for pitch and hydraulic for the rest.

To have an idea of how the cockpit of production JF-17 will look like you should wait for the Prototype 04 since it will be used for avionics and weapons integration & qualification tests.

-fc1 cockpit at the moment...

-Great, great work, Usman, to get the JF-17 avionics project director!
The aircraft will also be equipped with IRSTS, CLDP, and Helmet Mounted Display to provide all weather operations capability in all types of environments.
This is must be the Chinese avionics package mentioned in the Janes report.
The eventual cockpit description sounds like a F-18 :)
Confirms a highly open design. He repeated 2006 as the date for the PAF's first planes. Very ambitious date but it is the one they've pushed in all the recent reports so they have better meet it.

If it on the same schedule of 01 and 03 (7 months between flights), 04 should be up by the end of the year. I think the main sticking point, if any, would the decision on the radar package. The news reports that came out during the 03 first flight said look for 04 early next year.
