PMDG's 777-200ER

When PMDG launched the 777 back in 2013, it took the flight simulation community by storm, quickly becoming the go-to airliner for many flight sim pilots. After eight years of ploughing the virtual airways, PMDG has released an updated version of the legendary aircraft simulation exclusively for Prepar3D (P3D) version 4 and 5.

Welcome to the PMDG 777-200ER.

Boeing’s record breaker

The 777 broke new ground for Boeing when it first entered service in 1995. It was the first airliner to be designed entirely using Computer-Aided Design and was also Boeing’s first jetliner with fly-by-wire (FBW) controls.

The 777-200ER (Extended Range) followed two years later and the -200LR (Long Range) entered service in 2006. The same year, it set a world record for the longest non-stop flight of any commercial airliner. It travelled a distance of 11,664nm in 22 hours and 42 minutes, departing from Hong Kong, flying east across the Pacific and the US before crossing the Atlantic and arriving at London Heathrow. The introduction of the 777 marked a turning point in aviation history as airlines began to replace four-engine passenger jets such as the 747 with more fuel-efficient long-haul twins.
