Today is very much a tale of two cities. Sweden is an oft-forgotten part of the flight sim world, despite having some fantastic airports and locations to visit. Forget Arlanda and let's look at two airports that offer an interesting location or a challenging approach. Both airports are very different. One is very much a city dweller, nestled in the heart of downtown. The other is very much a country lover, with the beauty of a gorgeous coastline on the shores of the Øresund straight. Let’s check out Malmö and Stockholm Bromma.
Malmö is the third-largest city in Sweden and is located in the far southwest, just across the water from Copenhagen. The airport, Malmö-Sturup is some 17 miles to the east. First opening in 1972, the airport lives in the shadow of the much larger Copenhagen-Kastrup. Nonetheless, over 50 years the airport has grown and today it sees around two million passengers, making the airport Sweden's fourth busiest. Malmö-Sturup is mostly home these days to various domestic operators alongside low-cost carriers including Wizz Air.
Malmö is the work of Swedish Developer Marcus Nyberg (as is Bromma). Given how beautiful his rendition of Arlanda was for Prepar3D, I’m excited to see Malmö.
My first impression is, it's…
