Airliner World’s Dominic Ward sat down with Heathrow Airport systems engineer Mo Taher to find out how he helps to keep Britain’s busiest airport moving
“I’m not an influencer,” Mo Taher says modestly. “I prefer educator.” Over the last few years, Mo has cultivated an online following in excess of 470,000 individuals as he talks about the workings of the aviation industry at London/Heathrow.
Unlike your archetypal influencer, Mo is humble in his work, never forgetting the journey he’s been on to get to this point in life. Indeed, when we meet for coffee in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5, instead of diving straight into the interview he instead spends a good 10-15 minutes asking about me, my background and my love of aviation.
Mo’s life story isn’t your run-of-the-mill ‘I know what I want to be when I grow up’ pipe dream. His love affair with aviation began with Heathrow, the place he now calls his office.
“My parents were born and raised in Iraq,” Mo explained. “At some point, when they were fleeing the war, they got on a plane and arrived here at Terminal 3. One of these two runways brought my family into the country.”
