The Eagles have landed

Tel Nof AFB is one of Israel’s principal airbases and the home of its prime aerial defender, the F-15 Eagle “Baz”. David Weinrich takes a tour

Since December 1976, Israel Air Force (IAF)Eagles have kept Israeli skies free of enemy aircraft and, when necessary, taken the fight to hostile neighbours, near and far, from their purpose-built shelter areas at this historic base.

In continuous use since it was established in 1939, Royal Air Force (RAF) Aqir, as it was then known, was the main air base in British Mandatory Palestine. It served as the home to several fighter squadrons and used as a major transit hub for the RAF in the Middle East.
