Dnata expands cargo operations at Sydney Airport

The five-year lease includes the expansion of the firm’s freight facility, accommodating to the growth in demand within the region

Global air and travel services provider, dnata has recently signed a five-year agreement with Sydney Airport to expand its existing cargo facility situated at the international airfreight terminal.

Features of the new hub include a 4,800m2 extension, an increased number of airside and landside docks, as well as an enhanced processing capacity.

Additionally, another truck hoist is set to be implemented by the middle of this year, which will complement the sites existing infrastructure.

The company also operates a warehouse located in Sydney’s eastern suburb of Matraville, where loose cargo is collected by the forwarding community.

Dnata runs six cargo terminal operations across Australia, including Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne and Perth – moving around 300,000 tonnes of freight annually.

Temperature controlled cool chain facilities are also located at Melbourne and Sydney, with the incorporation of cool dollies at both sites which helps to ensure the proper handling of sensitive cargo.

Furthermore, the firm is the only air services provider within the region that has been awarded the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification for pharmaceutical management. This scheme helps to ensure high standards are met throughout the entire supply chain.

As a partner of more than 300 airlines, dnata offers cargo, ground handling and catering services across 127 airports in 19 countries.
