Developed by Ugra Media, DCS: Normandy 2 is a detailed and true-to-life terrain of Normandy in 1944. The new map is 2.4 times larger than the Normandy 1 map and uses the latest map technology with a new enhanced lighting engine, object detailing, high-definition terrain textures and damage modelling. In addition, a large number of historical buildings, airfields and infrastructures have also been recreated.

Normandy 2 includes large areas of France and Great Britain, including the capital cities, Paris and London. Other large cities in the region are also recreated: English Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing, Portsmouth and French Caen, Le Havre, Rouen, Amiens and Calais. The coast on both sides of the English Channel, including sea and river ports, has been modelled in detail.

There are several historically accurate locations in southern England as well as northern and central France. Some of these are the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles, the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris and the Louvre Museum. In England, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Westminster Palace and Tower Bridge are recreated. In total, more than 130 original buildings and structures are presented on the map.
