After much speculation, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed the line-up for today’s (June 2) flypast to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
As previously reported by Key.Aero, 70 aircraft are due to take part in the aerial formation from the Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Navy and British Army.
Starting at the front, a Wildcat HMA Mk2 from RNAS Yeovilton will lead the formation followed by two Merlin Mk4s of RNAS Culdrose.
A second Wildcat from the Somerset base will follow behind, flanked by three Army Air Corps Apache AH1s from Wattisham Flying Station.
A third Yeovilton-based Wildcat is expected to follow behind with a trio of Merlin Mk2s from RNAS Culdrose following closely behind.
Three Puma HC2s from RAF Benson are next, with three RAF Odiham-based Chinooks rounding of the rotary contingent of the flypast.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) will follow and is led by the Avro Lancaster, two Spitfires and a pair of Hurricanes.
A Phenom T1 from RAF Cranwell follows closely behind with a quartet of RAF Valley-based Texan T1s on its wings.
A set of three RAF Brize Norton-based C-130J Hercules come next, followed by an A400M Atlas and a C-17 Globemaster III.
