Norwegian has revealed that pioneering pilot Amy Johnson will become its second British tailfin hero, with the renowned pilot’s portrait set to appear on two of the carrier’s aircraft later this year. The airline has always aimed to honour personalities who symbolise the spirit of Norway through innovation, challenging the norm and inspiring others. It has already paid tribute to more than 80 tailfin heroes and to reflect its rapid growth in the UK has started a series illustrating British greats.
Amy Johnson will become the second British tailfin hero following last year’s announcement that Roald Dahl would be the first. The aviatrix was the first female to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930, just a year after being awarded her pilot’s licence. She went on to set many long-distance flying records and is said to perfectly capture the essence of Norwegian’s tailfin hero series. Her portrait is set to appear both on a Boeing 737 and a 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
