The 163rd Fighter Squadron ‘Blacksnakes’ is one of four A-10C units assigned to the Air National Guard. In recent years, the unit has demonstrated the adaptability of the ‘Warthog’ and its operators by flexing between missions and theaters.

WHEN THE INDIANA Air National Guard’s 163rd Fighter Squadron ‘Blacksnakes’ deployed to Central Command (CENTCOM) in 2014, it was to underscore the usefulness of the A-10 to senior leaders at a time when the type was under the real threat of mass extinction.
