Alstef Group is to install the baggage handling system at the international terminal of Kazakhstan’s new Almaty International Airport.
France’s Alstef will install and commission the baggage handling system (BHS), creating a throughput of 2,400 bags per hour. The new solution includes an outbound baggage system consisting of 40 check-in conveyors and a screening and sortation system feeding four make-up carousels, while the inbound system consists of three large reclaim carousels.
Almaty International Airport is 15km northeast of Almaty, the largest city and commercial capital of Kazakhstan, and is owned and operated by TAV Airports.
The new terminal will cover more than 50,000m2 and will have capacity for 14 million passengers per year. The airport is scheduled to open in 2022, with expansion plans to grow the capacity already in discussion.

The bid fulfilled the entire requirements of the project, and Alstef took time to understand the scope of work and develop the existing design to make the system more practical and economical.”
Alstef Group has worked alongside TAV Airports for more than 20 years, beginning with the installation of the baggage handling system at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

TAV Airports plans to promote Almaty and Kazakhstan as the business capital of the region. Kazakhstan leads Central Asia in economic growth and generates roughly 60% of the region’s GDP.
