The platform completed its maiden flight at Airbus’ facility at Seville-San Pablo Airport in Spain. It is one of 16 operational aircraft, along with three maintenance training airframes, to have been ordered by the RCAF under its Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) programme.

The first prototype C295 completed its maiden flight from Seville on November 28, 1997. To date, the platform has accumulated 215 orders from 33 global operators.
