Airbus Defence and Space has reached an important milestone with its C295 tactical transport family, following the maiden flight of its 200th example on March 29.
The aircraft in question was a CC-295 Kingfisher – serial 295508 (c/n 200) – which will be the eighth example to be delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The platform completed its maiden flight at Airbus’ facility at Seville-San Pablo Airport in Spain. It is one of 16 operational aircraft, along with three maintenance training airframes, to have been ordered by the RCAF under its Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) programme.
The first prototype C295 completed its maiden flight from Seville on November 28, 1997. To date, the platform has accumulated 215 orders from 33 global operators.
