The TA-4F was primarily a trainer but was also used for ACM late in its operational life, judging by the colour scheme you describe seeing the aircraft in, it was probably being used for ACM.

Yes, but I never saw it in that scheme, and it has fairings on both sides on the nose (RWR?), and is a 2 seater. I'll try to scan that pic.

I've seen in a book a pic of the ramp in MCAS Cherry Point in the early 90's where i could distinguish a TA-4F in a camo scheme similar to the harriers (dark gray/green). Has anybody pics of these planes? what was their role?
