-That is the emergency kick down lever unit for the main landing gear. It lives on the cockpit floor (under the heel boards) and has a red paxolin/fibre knob. You kick it with your foot which releases the uplocks and voila the wheels should lock down.

I thought it lived somewhere in the cockpit.
Now I know where to look in the cockpit photos I have it is clear as day.

I am after a positive identification for a part recovered during the excavation of a Hurricane.
It has the part number A97939 1 on one side and A99616 1 on the other. Its dimensions are 17cm by 10cm
See the attached photos for more.
I have a fairly good idea what it is but want to check all the same.
