Canadian carrier WestJet started a new transatlantic route on June 21 with the introduction of a summer seasonal flight from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Edinburgh.
The service will run three times a week until September 4. This is the third route launched by WestJet to Edinburgh, in addition to existing connections from Calgary and Toronto.
At less than 2,800 miles, the Halifax-Edinburgh route is one of the shortest across the Atlantic and will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft. The service is scheduled to depart from Halifax at 22:35hrs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Edinburgh at 08:10hrs the following day. The service aims to cater to both leisure and business travellers from both sides of the Atlantic. For passengers boarding in Edinburgh, the Halifax service allows onward connections to other Canadian destinations through WestJet's network.
