Build your own ‘Lusty’!

December 31: UK model company Airfix is to launch a new kit of Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious early in the new year.

‘Lusty’s Commanding Officer, Captain Ben Key was presented with a fully made model in a glass case early in December. The 1:350 scale model will take a skilled modeller approximately 30 hours to build, and includes Harrier aircraft, helicopters and the ship’s close-in weapon systems.

Captain Key said “It’s a real thrill to have a model of Illustrious, those of us that serve onboard are very proud of the ship and it will be great to see models sold around the country”.
